Sarana International Buddhist Center (S.I.B.C.) was founded by Ven. Polwatte Pangnananda Thero in 1998 who began building a Buddhist community. The land and the buildings were donated to S.I.B.C. and to Ven. Polwatte Thero by Khim Chuwa Okhim.

Since then, the Cambodian community has been the major contributing people in assisting Ven. Polwatte Thero to build a strong Buddhist Center, along with the Sri Lankan, Lao, American and many other nationalities.

Ven. Polwatte's wish and goal for S.I.B.C. is to see continued happiness, peacefulness, prosperity and a strong unit, where all nationalities and communities come together as one for the good of all. This wish is for everyone who comes to S.I.B.C. and also to the community, and to the world.

To achieve these goals for a successful, thriving Buddhist community, it takes hard work and dedication on everyone's part. Not only following the precepts and attending services and recognized celebrations, there are daily, weekly, and monthly chores of S.I.B.C. that needs to be addressed.
